Editorial
(25th of March)
 On this
main page of my website, I will tell you news and important
pieces of information concerning Bangladesh, its past and
present. Foretelling I will probably leave out from all of
this. I have never been good at it.
I will try not to take any personal aspect on them, because
I heard that Bangladesh leads the statistics in killing
foreign journalists. Which is nice.
Now, the weblog section is ment for more personal
experiences and things that I will go through while I am
there. There too, Finnish and English texts are not going to
be similar due to the fact presented above.
Bangladesh News Flash (Week 1)

Here I present some of the best online newspapers in
Bangladesh. Later on I will pick up the best articles for you
to read.

Interesting
facts
Did you know that there are probably over 500 000 rickshaws in
the capital area of Dhaka? They are owned by over 20 000
rickshaw "lords". Most of the rickshaw drivers rent
their "wheels".
After 1989 there have been no new rickshaw licencies
approved by the goverment. According to the official
statistics, there should be only 88 260 rickshaws on the
streets of Dhaka.
Unlicenced rickshaws are the best source of income for the
traffic police. Even better than the salary they get.
Collecting these fees is as natural as a normal road toll. So
rickshaw drivers have to get money for their rental lord and
for the police too. In the end of the day they hope to have a
little bit money over for their family.
So, to pay a little bit more than the locals for the ride,
doesnt sound that bad.
