Winds are changing

The rains are coming. Season is turning from hot to wet. Winds grow mightier out there in the sea, over the Bay of Bengal, and sweep across the lushious green forests and fields of Bangladesh.

In the south east part of the country, in Bandabar, the season brings out the best what nature has to offer. Beautiful Hill Tracts of Chittagong are an ideal place for hiking and camping. During the rainy season the flowers and trees blossom and the weather is tolerable. Unfortunately the area is quite restless. Hijacks happen and military is constantly alert.

There are reasons for tribal people to take arms against Bangladesh goverment. The country is not interested to preserve their way of life. More likely they want to assimilate them to the society. Recently 400000 Bengali's were moved to live in the area. Sympathies belong to the people of the forest.

One way to help the situation could be tourism. When done right, it would make the people with the power, who see values of life only in dollar signs, understand also the value of this area. Of course the real value is somewhre else. It is in the way of life Hill Tract's people have. There are things that us others could learn from them.

In a modern day world tourism isnt usually life preserving factor. On the contrary. But it could be, if done in sustainable way. Of course the hardest part here is the greedy people, who want interest on their investments. They dont give damn about anything else.

Therefore in the end, the responsibility is in the hand of the tourist. The money comes from us. We can be the life preserving factor, if we understand the power that we have and find the way how to channel it..

Interesting facts

Did you know that from annual budget around 30% goes to the military? Surely Bangladesh is going to need that powerful defense forces? Maybe somebody is secretly plotting against Bangladesh? Who could it be? China? Myanmar? USA? Finland?

I know that many countries would love to have all those jack fruit trees and pine apple gardens on their own territory. People have started wars for less.

Or maybe they arent defense force at all! Bangladesh is going to take over the world! First India, then Berlin. Oh my, oh my!

But seriously, countries who would have so many better ways to use their money, usually spend their pennies on bullets. This is the way how primitive mind works. The best way to protect the country is by making it strong from within, not to place arms at the border.
